WELCOME

 

Cuneiform writing on clay tablets, ancient Greek vases, the slipware of the 18th century, and even modern ceramic souvenirs all show fired clay as a medium that records history. In this tradition, printed words and images are an important element in my work.The objects, though often based on domestic forms, are clearly not functional. The themes and nature of the images, the fragmentation and reassembly, the highly polished, inked and waxed surfaces, place the work outside the realm of everyday ceramics. 

 

In addition to my work in the studio, I teach printing on clay in several European institutes and studios.

WILLKOMMEN

 

Keilschrift-Tontafeln, alt-griechische Vasen, Schlickerware des 18. Jahrhunderts, und sogar moderne Keramik-Souvenirs dokumentieren unsere Geschichte. In dieser Tradition sind Wörter und Bilder wichtige Elemente in meiner Arbeit. Die Objekte, obwohl auf bekannten keramischen Formen basierend, sind offensichtlich nicht zum Gebrauch bestimmt. Die Themen, die Auswahl der Worte und Bilder, die zerbrochene oder polierte Oberfläche, zum Teil mit Tinte eingefärbt, heben die Objekte über das Alltägliche hinaus.

 

Zusätzlich zu meiner Arbeit im Atelier, unterrichte ich Druckverfahren auf Ton an verschiedenen europäischen Instituten und Werkstätten.
